Structure Properties of Graphene- polymer Nanocomposite

In this work graphene-PVA composites samples prepared with different graphene loading (0.2, 0.5, 0.7, 1)gm, where prepared by direct mixing then dried at (60 C˚) in an oven. The present work focuses on studying the structural properties of composite, using analysis like X_ray diffraction, SEM and AFM. The results show that the chemical composition has major effect on structural properties, the phase analysis done by X_ray diffraction has confirmed the formation of the expected graphene structure where the crystal size was increased but the X-ray density was decreased when increasing the graphene content in PVA matrix. SEM shows surface image of composite films where the graphene nanoplates can be homogeneously integrated with in PVA matrix. AFM examinationshows that the surface roughness decreased with filler increasing.

Antimicrobials Nano-Fiber PVA Pure and PVA: TiO2 for Filtration Applications

In this study, polyvinyl alcohol composite polymer membrane was successfully synthesized pure and at different TiO2 concentrations (1%, 3%). The diameter of the PVA–TiO2fibers ranged from 100 to 200 nm. X-ray diffraction analysis indicated that the main crystal structure was amorphous and there are no any sign of Anatase or Rutile or Brookite when increased TiO2 concentrations to3% .absorption properties of polymeric membranes doped absorb of increases compare with of the undoped membrane. PVA pure nano-fibers membrane less zone of inhibition than PVA : 0.1 TiO2nano-fibers membrane and PVA : 0.3 TiO2nano-fibers membrane against gram-negative(Pseudomonas and Salmonella) and gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus)).

Optimization Conditions for Preparation Of Polyvinyl Alcohol- Alumina Gel Composite and its Properties

A preparation of poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/alumina (Al 2O3) gel
composite was investigated.
This type of composite gel was carried out with two stages firstly the
hydrolysis of polyvinyl alcohol in a hot water at 200ºC for 2 hours and different
mixing ratio of (PVA/H2O) solution at (10,20,30,40,50) wt% has been
investigated to check its operating conditions .Secondly different ratios of alumina
refractory were used (5,10,15,20,25) wt% of (AL2O3 /PVA) at 350ºC for 4 hours
to give a completes composite gel of ( PVA/Al2O3) in a polymerization stage.
The final composite gel of (Al2O3/PVA) is molded in a different shapes
and size due to suitable characteristics tests in order to check chemical, thermal,
and mechanical properties afterward curing these specimens at 120ºCfor 2 hours
to complete the compatibility of composite gel.
The results tests proved that: All final composite gel specimen is more
efficient than other base polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) of high mechanical and thermal
properties than base one with less internal stresses, also the resistance for chemical
solutions in (100%H2O, 10%H2SO4) is increased at sever conditions at 50ºC for
5 days especially for optimum mixing ratio specimen No.3 with preference for
optimum sample No.3 of (30%PVA Sol./15% Al2O3) g/g.

The Study of Immunological And Cytogenetic Effects of Polyvinyl Alcohol

This study has been designed to investigate the toxicity effects of
polyvinyl alcohol at different concentrations on peripheral blood lymphocytes by measuring each of blastogenic index, mitotic index and chromosomal aberration in addition to the polymorph nuclear leukocytes activity through determine both of the phagocytosis percent and phagocytosis index .The results show that PVA have no toxic effects at the concentrations 0.1,1,10,100,250 ƒÊg/ml because the cytogenetic parameters undergo not significantly raised (at P < 0.05) and
phagocytosis percent and phagocytosis index have been increased significantly (at P . 0.05). The immune response has been found to be significantly too (P . 0.05) in the presence of PVA with Candida albicans antigen as adjuvant via increasing the foot pad swelling in the immunized mice with 50 ƒÊg/ml of C.albicans antigen.
